We're looking for a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Veterinary Technician who genuinely enjoys caring for animals and working with people. Our technicians play an important role in creating a positive experience for both our patients and their families while supporting our doctors in providing high-quality veterinary care. What You'll Do As a Veterinary Technician at Paw Haven, you'll be an important part of the patient care team.
Your responsibilities may include:
Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, surgeries, and other medical procedures. Obtain patient histories and accurately document medical information in patient records. Collect and process laboratory samples and perform routine diagnostics, including blood work, urinalysis, and fecal testing. Place and maintain IV catheters and assist with fluid therapy. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Prepare patients for surgery and assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery. Perform and assist with diagnostic imaging, including radiographs. Monitor patients closely and communicate changes or concerns to the veterinary team. Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients. Educate clients on medications, nutrition, preventive care, and at-home treatment plans. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients, clients, and team members. Follow hospital protocols for patient care, sanitation, safety, and infection control. Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service team members to provide excellent patient care. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Compassionate and genuinely cares about the well-being of animals. Reliable and accountable and understands the importance of being someone the team can count on. Team-oriented and willing to jump in wherever help is needed. Confident handling a variety of patients while maintaining a calm and compassionate approach. Detail-oriented , especially when it comes to medications, treatments, medical records, and patient monitoring. Comfortable communicating with clients and explaining veterinary recommendations in a friendly, understandable way. Eager to learn, grow, and continue developing their skills in veterinary medicine. Able to work in a busy hospital environment while maintaining professionalism and a positive attitude. Experience & Skills Previous veterinary technician experience. Veterinary terminology, anatomy, and physiology knowledge. Experience with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing. Familiarity with aseptic technique and proper infection-control practices. Experience with IV catheter placement is preferred. Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience are a plus. Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs, cats, and other companion animals.
