Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and efficient Vet Tech to join our New High-Volume Spay/Neuter clinic in Marion, Ia. Specializing in Surgery and Anesthesia you will provide expert support during surgical procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of our animal patients. Your energetic and detail-oriented approach will help facilitate smooth surgeries, effective anesthesia monitoring, and patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your veterinary technician skills in a fast-paced environment dedicated to reducing the population through Spay & Neuter! Duties Prepare surgical areas, sterilize equipment, and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques for all procedures Prepare and track controlled substances for large volumes of surgical patients Efficiently pre-medicate, induce, and intubate any and all patients as necessary Monitor vital signs, anesthesia depth, and physiological responses throughout surgical procedures, adjusting anesthetic protocols as needed Assist veterinarians during surgeries by handling instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and monitoring anesthesia levels using veterinary anesthesia monitoring equipment Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed each day Support post-operative recovery by administering medications, providing pet care instructions, and observing for any signs of distress or complications Requirements Proven veterinary technician experience with a focus on surgery and anesthesia; certification is preferred but not mandatory Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy and physiology Hands-on experience with medical equipment operation including laboratory instruments, and anesthesia machines Ability to handle cats and dogs confidently using animal restraint techniques Excellent client communication skills to explain procedures and post-operative care instructions clearly and compassionately Familiarity with veterinary software systems for record keeping and procedure documentation A proactive team player with a passion for animal husbandry, veterinary surgical assistance, and pet care Join SNIP in making a difference in the lives of animals through dedicated surgical support!
