Job Description

Veterinary Technician opportunity at Cross Street Veterinary Hospital Cross Street Veterinary Hospital is a newly established and independently owned small animal general practice located in Winchester, MA. Our owners decided to open their own clinic because they were burnt out working for corporations that put profit above patient care. We seek applicants with at least one year of experience as a surgical veterinary technician, CVT preferred but not required, to join our team. The ideal candidate would be comfortable placing IV catheters, intubating patients, monitoring anesthesia, anticipating and troubleshooting common complications, and assisting in surgery and dentistry. Excellent communication skills, work ethic, positive attitude, and a compassionate approach to both clients and patients would make you a great fit!
Responsibilities Include:
Intake patients including obtaining medical history, vitals, and recording appropriately Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed patient records and documentation Collect and prepare lab samples for both in-house and reference diagnostics Utilize proper animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both staff and animals Care for inpatients conscientiously, whether dropped off for diagnostics or for sedated/anesthetized procedures Educate clients on subjects including vaccination protocols, parasite prevention, medication administration and common side effects, and homecare instructions Position patients safely and accurately for radiologic studies, following ALARA principle for all parties Prepare and administer medications according to prescription instructions Proactively act as a team member, communicating with and helping Doctors and other staff to serve pet families as necessary Follow and assist in developing hospital protocols and best practices, particularly by sharing new information gleaned from continuing education Maintain a positive and respectful attitude, with empathy for patients, clients, and coworkers, and enthusiasm for personal and professional learning and improvement Be able to lift up to 40 pounds and kneel for extended periods of time if necessary Experience with Ezyvet preferred As a Veterinary Technician, you will enjoy: Competitive compensation Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays No nights or weekends Health insurance stipend Annual CE reimbursement Scrub allowance Personal petcare discounts
