Role:

Our Registered Veterinary Technicians are essential to the success of our patient care and client experience. As a credentialed professional, you will work closely with our doctors to provide skilled, compassionate, and efficient medical support. From performing diagnostics and monitoring anesthesia to educating clients and mentoring newer team members, your expertise helps elevate the quality of care we deliver every day. Base Pay Range:

$27.00/hr - $33.00/hr

Responsibilities:

Obtain thorough medical histories from clients Perform/oversee diagnostics as ordered by veterinarians, including venipuncture, blood chemistries, cytology, urinalysis, fecal samples, diagnostic imaging, and more Ensure safety protocols are followed for diagnostic imaging and radiation Prepare patients for surgery, including clipping, scrubbing, catheter placement, intubation, IV fluid administration, and anesthesia induction and monitoring Assist during surgical procedures and manage post-operative care Administer medications (PO, IV, IM, SQ) and place/maintain bandages Provide high-quality dental prophylaxis and oral health care Perform nursing procedures as permitted by state law, including wound care and ear cleanings Maintain all required treatment area logbooks, including controlled substances, equipment maintenance, and test results Monitor and arrange maintenance for clinical and lab equipment (e.g., Idexx analyzers, autoclave, microscope) Using low-stress/fear-free handling techniques, restrain animals safely, efficiently, and compassionately during exams and treatments Obtain accurate patient vitals and complete medical histories; note and report any changes in condition to the DVM Collect and prepare lab samples (e.g., fecal, urine, blood, cytologies) following proper protocols Lead and participate in staff training related to safety, anesthesia, restraint, and clinical procedures Educate and support clients both in person and by phone with empathy and professionalism Stay current with CE requirements and attend continuing education, on and off-site Support other team members, providing mentorship and guidance Display professionalism, compassion, attention to detail, and an eagerness to grow Demonstrate initiative and the ability to learn new tasks and routines as needed Other duties as assigned to support the team and patients

Qualifications:

Graduate of an AVMA-accredited program with an Associate's Degree in Veterinary Technology Current license to practice as a Veterinary Technician in the state of Maryland (LVT) Successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) 1+ year of clinical experience as a Licensed Veterinary Technician Valid driver's license and ability to drive to house-call appointments for mobile shifts Deep understanding of nursing procedures and their clinical applications Ability to assess procedural effectiveness, identify issues, and recommend changes to supervising veterinarians Skilled at recognizing early clinical changes in patient condition Adaptive and eager to learn emerging technologies and new protocols Demonstrates critical thinking and problem-solving in dynamic situations Comfortable using computer software and online tools Clear and professional communicator with clients and team members Passionate about animals and providing high-quality care Physical ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and safely restrain pets Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work non-traditional hours, including some holidays
