Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures, including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering medications. Perform animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, grooming, and maintaining cleanliness in kennels and treatment areas. Prepare animals for examinations or surgeries by applying aseptic techniques and ensuring proper animal restraint. Conduct laboratory tests, manage sample collection, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines. Support dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with pet dental care routines. Handle various species including dogs, cats, and equines, demonstrating proficiency in animal physiology and anatomy knowledge. Maintain detailed medical records, update patient charts, and document treatments accurately. Assist with pet care activities including grooming, training support, and ensuring pet comfort during hospital stays. Support critical veterinary care efforts by monitoring patient vital signs and providing emergency assistance when needed. Ensure proper animal restraint during procedures to guarantee safety for both animals and staff. Maintain a clean and organized work environment following strict aseptic techniques to prevent infections. Collaborate with team members on laboratory testing procedures and interpret results to aid diagnosis. Participate in ongoing training to stay current with veterinary terminology, new techniques, and best practices in animal care. Qualifications Proven kennel experience with a strong understanding of animal husbandry practices. Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures and laboratory experience is highly desirable. Knowledge of dental terminology and pet grooming techniques is a plus. Experience working with animals in diverse settings such as equine facilities or general veterinary clinics. Skilled in dog handling, animal restraint, and pet care routines to ensure safety and comfort during examinations. Ability to perform animal catheterization safely and effectively while maintaining aseptic technique standards. Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and veterinary terminology to support clinical tasks accurately. Previous veterinary technician experience preferred but not required; relevant internships are welcome. Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and educating pet owners about animal health needs. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
