We are looking to hire an experienced veterinary technician to become part of our growing team. Although not required, CVT is preferable. We are a fast paced, small-animal, specialty practice. Our focus is our patient's ocular health and over all comfort. We are a positive, upbeat, hardworking team looking for our next team member. The Certified Veterinary Technician works under the direct supervision of the attending veterinary ophthalmologist, who will indicate general assignments and priorities for each shift.
Veterinary Technician:
Approximately 36-40 hours per week
Hours:
While hours may vary
- we generally expect four ten hour shifts per week. Our current hospital schedule is Monday
- Friday 8am
- 5pm.
Pay:
Depending on experience Benefits include: Health, Dental, Vision Insurance 401k with employer match and year end profit share (Eligible after 12 months of service) Paid time off and paid holiday time The certified veterinary technician's primary duties include both outpatient tasks as well as inpatient care (anesthesia/surgical tasks) Essential duties and responsibilities: Provide friendly, quality care to our patients and clients. Obtain accurate patient histories from our clients. Preform preliminary ocular exam tests (tear testing, intraocular pressures) Assist the Ophthalmologist with ocular and physical examinations With guidance, prepare patient discharge instructions. Maintain proper documentation in the electronic medical record. Fill medications for patients and administer medications to patients as necessary. Draw blood samples, place IV catheters, induce and monitor anesthesia Clean/Maintain surgical equipment Inpatient care for hospitalized patients This job description does not necessarily cover every task or duty that might be assigned. There may be additional responsibilities assigned as necessary.
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience working in an animal hospital. Basic math and writing skills. Professional phone manner. Regular attendance and timeliness are essential to this position. Ability to use Windows based computer systems, word processing, email, web search and other skills needed to effectively use the practice management software program. Positive attitude! Ability to multitask.
