Professional GroomerAmerican Animal Hospital is looking for an experienced pet groomer to help launch a new grooming department in a busy veterinary hospital!

We are excited to add a new service to our hospital and are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and talented Pet Groomer to join our veterinary team. This is a unique opportunity to establish and grow a grooming department within a trusted veterinary hospital while working alongside veterinary professionals who are dedicated to exceptional pet care.

Position OverviewThe Pet Groomer will provide high-quality grooming services while promoting the health, safety, and well-being of our patients. The ideal candidate is experienced, self-motivated, customer-focused, and enthusiastic about helping us build a successful grooming program from the ground up.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform breed-specific and pet-style grooming servicesBathing, brushing, drying, clipping, hand-scissoring, and nail trimsRecognize and communicate potential health concerns to veterinary staffMaintain a safe, clean, and organized grooming areaProvide exceptional client communication and customer serviceHandle pets with patience, compassion, and professionalismAssist in developing grooming schedules and service offeringsAdhere to hospital safety, sanitation, and pet handling protocols

Skills Needed:

Minimum of 2 years of professional pet grooming experience preferredGrooming certification is a plus, but not requiredKnowledge of breed standards and grooming techniquesAbility to safely manage dogs and cats of various sizes and temperamentsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsReliable, organized, and able to work independentlyPassion for animal health and wellnessAbility to stand and bend for long periods of timeWeekend availability7 am - 6 pm availability

Physical Obligations:

Able to lift and carry up to 50 poundsEndure standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of timeAble to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipmentTake safety precautions for exposure to toxins, drugs, anesthesia and radiation

Educational Requirements:

Professional grooming certificationMinimum age requirement of 18 years old
