Small, privately-owned animal hospital looking for motivated, full-time licensed technician to build a career and future with! Do you love animals? Do you love people just as much? Great at multitasking? Do you have a way with animals? If so, apply! We are a growing private practice in the Capital District of New York looking to add a new technician to our team. The Delmar Animal Hospital operates Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. We are a general practice that has provided care for cats, dogs, and wildlife in our area since 1950. Our hospital's model honors the principles of fear-free practices and cooperative care. We are a cornerstone in our community and help provide care and aide to our neighbors.
Necessary Skills :
Compassion and sensitivity : Ability to be sensitive to an ill pet, as well as its concerned owner. Interpersonal skills : Ability to feel comfortable dealing with patients, staff, and others. Technology skills : Ability to operate office technology such as computers, phones, copiers, various computer & mobile apps. Mental and physical stamina : Ability to stay calm and positive when handling a nervous, defensive client or a scared, hurting patient. Organizational skills : Ability to manage a doctor's busy schedule without becoming overwhelmed. Problem solving : You must be able to identify and solve problems. Critical thinking : This skill will allow you to determine what your options are.
Focus :
You'll have to remain calm and on task in what is often a busy and even chaotic environment with numerous distractions.
Team work:
We have an incredible team and wonderful clients. Not everyone is the same or handles things the same way. You need to be able to adapt to those you're with. Everyone is treated with respect and professionalism, at the very least.
Duties :
Assist in surgery. Perform dental cleanings and procedures under the supervision of a DVM. Practice fear-free and cooperative care techniques while safely restraining pets for exams and procedures. Monitor and treat hospitalized patients. Perform lab work. Enter data into a computerized patient database. Fill prescriptions and talk to pharmacies. Perform surgery call-backs. Maintain the cleanliness of our work space. Assist DVM's with appointments.
Requirements:
Comfortable and capable of handling all kinds of pets with all sorts of dispositions. Comfortable talking on the phone, using email, and messaging. Technological literacy and skill. Strong communication skills. Able to lift 35lbs. Licensed as a Veterinary Technician in New York State.
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
