Part-Time Licensed Veterinary Technician

Job Description

The Humane Society of Yates County is seeking a New York State Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our Green Line Clinic team two days per week. This is currently expected to be a temporary position, with the possibility of continuing based on the clinic's needs. Our Green Line Clinic provides high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter services for shelter animals, income-qualified pet owners, community cats, and animal-welfare partners. We are looking for an experienced, dependable LVT who is comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment and shares our commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care. Primary Responsibilities Prepare patients for spay/neuter surgery Calculate, prepare, and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian Place IV catheters and perform endotracheal intubation Induce, monitor, and maintain anesthesia under the supervision of the veterinarian Monitor and document patient vital signs throughout surgery and recovery Identify and promptly communicate changes in a patient's condition Assist the veterinarian during surgical procedures Provide safe and attentive postoperative care Perform blood draws and other laboratory procedures as needed Maintain accurate medical, surgical, anesthesia, and controlled-substance records Clean, package, sterilize, and maintain surgical instruments and equipment Help prepare and maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked surgical suite Follow all clinic protocols for patient identification, infection prevention, medication handling, and workplace safety Work cooperatively with the veterinarian, clinic staff, shelter staff, volunteers, and partner organizations Assist with other clinic-related responsibilities as needed

$25.00 per hour
