Job Description

As an Animal Care Technician, you will receive paid training and develop in-demand skills while working alongside experienced professionals.
Responsibilities include:
Provide humane care and daily husbandry for research animals. Build positive human-animal interactions to support animal welfare. Learn animal handling, restraint, feeding, watering, and care procedures for multiple species. Conduct daily health observations and monitor animal well-being. Measure body weights and monitor food consumption. Collect, review, verify, and document study-related data. Maintain accurate paper and electronic records. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Support research activities while adhering to quality, compliance, and regulatory standards. Follow all safety, animal welfare, and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) requirements. Qualifications No experience required. Paid training provided.
Preferred qualifications:
High school diploma or GED. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to animal welfare, safety, and quality standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Fine motor skills for handling animals and performing technical procedures. Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Comfortable working in an active research environment.
Compensation Starting Pay:
$19.00 - $20.00 per hour +10% shift differential for eligible evening and weekend shifts Schedule & Paid TrainingInitial Training Program (5-8 Weeks) Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Regular Schedule After Training Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Additional availability may be required for: Overtime Weekends Holidays After-hours coverage Why Join Charles River?
