Responsibilities In-Patient Care Administer medications, perform treatments and assist with diagnostics and patient monitoring. Place IV catheters, draw blood, run lab tests and administer fluids as needed. Provide compassionate care, including feeding, walking and maintaining a clean environment for hospitalized patients. Anesthesia and Surgery Prepare patients for anesthesia, including induction, maintenance and recovery. Monitor anesthesia levels and maintain patient safety throughout the surgical process. Sterilize and clean anesthesia equipment and surgical instruments. Dentistry Provide comprehensive dental care, including ultrasonic cleaning, dental radiographs, polishing and assisting the doctor with dental surgeries. Radiology Position patients for radiographs, assisting in capturing clear and accurate images. Laboratory Duties Collect, prepare, and run diagnostic tests, or submit samples for requested tests (e.g., fecals, urines, ear cytology). Prepare and dispense medications, including refills, with careful attention to detail and accuracy. Client Communication and Education Communicate updates on hospitalized patients, ensuring clients are informed of their pet's status. Provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up care for certain patients. Educate clients on at-home care procedures to ensure optimal recovery and health. Veterinary Technician Appointments Perform blood draws for therapeutic monitoring or screening tests, bandage changes, post-op checks and suture removals. Perform procedures such as AG and NT. Outpatient Care Assist doctors with outpatient appointments, ensuring a smooth flow from check-in to discharge. Take patient histories, record vital signs, prepare exam rooms, restock supplies and enter data into medical records. Provide restraint and support during ultrasound, cryotherapy and laser therapy procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout.
