The Judy and Doug Lowrie Spay and Neuter Clinic, a subset of the Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter, is searching for a Licensed Veterinary Technician. The veterinary technician position is a full-time role primarily charged with aiding the veterinarian with ensuring the day is run as safely and efficiently as possible.
ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Judy and Doug Lowrie Spay and Neuter Clinic was started in 2022 to offer low cost, high quality spay and neuter services to the shelter, the surrounding animal rescues, and the community. To date the clinic has performed close to 20,000 spay and neuter surgeries. The mission of the clinic is to provide a sustainable, low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter clinic readily available to the Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter and the surrounding community for the purpose of preventing homeless, unwanted animals in our community.
JOB DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS
Collaborate with Front Office Manager, Shelter Staff, and Rescue partners to ensure adequate scheduling
Coordinate with Shelter Staff regarding health needs
Check in and discharge surgical patients
Handle all medication dispensing
Assist with physical examinations including safe restraint
Anesthetize, intubate, and monitor both dogs and cats
Communicate post operative orders and treatment plans to clients
Participate in staff meetings and trainings
Provide reports to supervisor, as requested
Contribute to a positive work environment
Crosstrain in areas of the shelter, as appropriate
Assist in onboarding and training new employees and volunteers
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
8-hour shifts, 7:30am-4pm
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
Job will consist of standing, walking, bending and sitting

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be licensed veterinary technician with valid license to practice
No previous drug related felonies
Experience with safely handling and restraining both cats and dogs
Experience with Fear Free Handling or Low Stress Handling is a plus
Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
Outstanding interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills
Good problem solving skills
Ability to work basic computer applications as well as various software programs
Punctual

Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
