Why You'll Love Working Here Four-day work week Respect for work-life balance No overnight or emergency shifts Privately owned practice with no corporate quotas Fear Free Certified hospital Opportunity to work with companion animals and exotic species Hands-on mentorship from Dr. Valerie Head Continuing education reimbursement Fear Free Certification paid by the practice Professional growth and advancement opportunities Responsibilities Monitor anesthesia for surgical, dental, and sedation procedures Prepare patients for surgery, including IV catheter placement, intubation, clipping, surgical preparation, and anesthetic monitoring Assist the veterinarian during surgery, dentistry, and medical procedures Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture Obtain diagnostic blood, urine, fecal, and cytology samples and perform in-house laboratory diagnostics Obtain diagnostic and dental radiographs Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Assist with examinations and patient treatments using Fear Free handling techniques Educate clients regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation Prepare treatment estimates and fill prescriptions Maintain clean and organized surgery, treatment, laboratory, pharmacy, and exam areas Required Qualifications Minimum one year of hands-on veterinary technician experience Strong anesthesia monitoring skills with the ability to recognize and respond to changes in patient status Experience preparing and monitoring patients for surgery and dentistry Proficiency with venipuncture and IV catheter placement Surgical assisting experience Experience performing in-house laboratory diagnostics Comfortable safely handling and restraining dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills Passion for providing exceptional patient care Preferred Qualifications Experience with exotic animal medicine is a plus, but not required—we're happy to teach the right candidate.
