If you love animals, are willing to work hard, and want to be part of a team dedicated to animal welfare, we encourage you to apply! Job Responsibilities Daily duties include, but are not limited to: Animal Care and Health Feed dogs, cats, and other animals according to established schedules and dietary requirements. Administer medications as directed and follow established medical protocols. Complete daily dog health evaluation sheets and report any concerns or changes in behavior or health. Organize and assist with incoming animal fecal testing procedures. Bathe and groom animals as needed. Provide appropriate exercise, enrichment, and socialization to support animal health and adoptability. Maintain accurate daily animal care and medical records. Cleaning and Facility Maintenance Clean and disinfect dog and cat kennels, including isolation areas, according to established protocols. Wash dishes, complete laundry, and maintain clean and sanitary animal care areas. Follow proper cleaning, disease prevention, and biosecurity procedures. Help maintain a safe, organized, and sanitary shelter environment. Teamwork and Communication Provide guidance to volunteers on proper animal handling, leash walking, and safety procedures. Communicate professionally with staff, volunteers, and members of the public. Help educate the public about responsible animal care, handling, and training practices. Maintain clear and accurate written communication in the staff logbook. Complete timesheets accurately and on time. Follow shelter policies, procedures, and instructions. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Dependable, punctual, and committed to excellent attendance. Able to work independently, stay on task, and manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. Compassionate toward animals and able to handle stressful situations professionally. Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow established protocols. Comfortable handling dogs of different sizes, temperaments, and activity levels, including dogs weighing over 100 pounds. Able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift. Able to stand, bend, kneel, lift, walk, and clean for extended periods. Valid driver's license required. Willingness to learn and follow animal handling, sanitation, safety, and medical care procedures. Previous animal care, kennel, veterinary, grooming, or animal shelter experience is beneficial. However, a strong work ethic, reliability, willingness to learn, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare are equally important. Work Environment This is an active, hands-on position in a working animal shelter. Employees may be exposed to barking and other animal noises, animal dander, cleaning chemicals, odors, and animals that are frightened, stressed, or recovering from illness. The work can be physically demanding and emotionally challenging. Candidates must be able to remain patient, attentive, and compassionate while completing necessary daily responsibilities.
