Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Shelter I is responsible:
To ensure that the policies and procedures regarding animal welfare are followed and enforced.
To maintain the highest standards of integrity, personal responsibility, sense of community and teamwork by self example.
To support successful programs through an uncompromised commitment to meeting agency expectations.
Scheduled hours: This is a part time position.
Requires flexibility, possible weekends and occasional late nights. CHS functions in service to its mission in accordance with a strategic plan.
Compensation:
Part Time - $ 16.50-$20.00 per hour (D.O.E.)

Qualifications:
Previous experience in animal shelter services preferred.
Have good written and oral communication skills, conflict resolution, problem solving and organizational skills.
Strong computer technology skills, including Google programs. Ability to learn new technology systems and implement within scope of duties.
Ability to work in a cooperative team manner and to follow directions and program policies.
Ability to work cooperatively with the ED, staff, volunteers and clients as necessary.
Bilingual, bicultural skills preferred.
Must be willing and available to work flexible hours.
Valid driver's license, vehicle and proof of liability insurance.
Must be able to travel to out of town meetings and training.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Shelter I is responsible for agency operations, service delivery, shelter services, animal care and placement protocols for Columbia Humane Society, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation providing direct adoption services of homeless animals to the community abroad.
Key responsibilities include the following:
1. Cleaning and sanitation procedures, proper feeding of all shelter animals. 2. Ensure and maintain health and proper living conditions of CHS animals. 3. Ensure accurate record keeping. 4. Keep abreast of animal welfare issues and new techniques, procedures and equipment in the area of animal care and shelters. 5. Keep all areas of the shelter clean and free from debris. Clean doors, windows and floors on a regular basis to be determined by the Executive Director. 6. Other duties as assigned.
