Position Overview - Correctional Officer I This entry-level position is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the Monroe County Correctional Facility in accordance with Federal and State regulations and facility policies. Correctional Officers report directly to the Unit Commander or designee.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Enforcing facility rules and regulations Escorting inmates within and outside the facility Monitoring and supervising inmate behavior and activities Conducting searches for contraband Supervising inmate visitations and transports Conducting cell inspections and ensuring safety and sanitation standards Preparing reports and documenting incidents Administering first aid and CPR (as trained) Assisting with drug and alcohol testing procedures

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

Strong judgment and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to maintain professional relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and inmates Willingness to work in a structured, high-security environment

Other Requirements:

Must complete the Monroe County Correctional Facility's pre-service training program Must be able to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays Position may involve exposure to all weather conditions and moderate to strenuous physical activity

Physical Demands:

Work may involve standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs (occasionally more), and handling physically demanding situations.

Sensory Requirements:

Must be able to clearly see, hear, and communicate; able to interpret visual and auditory information under pressure.

Environmental Conditions:
