Job Description

The City of Tomball will be accepting applications for a Public Service Officer (Jailer). This role will be Responsible for the efficient operation of the Holding Facility (jail) and offering comprehensive support in evidence management, crime scene investigation, and various administrative tasks. Requires a strong grasp of procedural compliance, ensuring the preservation and integrity of evidence, as well as seamless collaboration with both police personnel and external entities like the District Attorney's office. Reports To Captain Positions Supervised None Public Service Officer / Jailer functions include but are not limited to the following.
Holding Facility Management:
Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the department's jail. Assist police personnel with fingerprints, data collection, and distribution. Undertake specialty projects and programs specific to the facility.
Administrative Duties:
Complete cross-trained tasks and cover for peers during absences. Carry out 'other duties as assigned' by the command staff.
Public Interaction:
Answer and provide information to public inquiries related to evidence, holding facility, or related matters. Contribute to the team effort by performing other related duties as assigned. Ability to use software like Zuercher Suite, Evidence.com, and other department-specific systems. Build and maintain strong working relationships within the department and with external stakeholders like the District Attorney's office. Equipment and Tools commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. Microsoft Office, Forensic Equipment, Fingerprint System, Cellebrite, Zuercher Suite, NVMS7000. Work Environment or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job. May be required to work in high or dangerous places. Work may involve potentially life threatening exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, chemical/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma. May regularly be exposed to uncomfortable temperatures, humidity, noise, chemicals/gases, contagious diseases, airborne particles/pathogens, and/or physical trauma. May be required to work in confined spaces. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to biohazards or bloodborne pathogens. Physical Abilities. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work requires the ability to sit, stand, walk for extended periods of time. Work requires the ability to complete repetitive wrist, hand, and/or fine motor movement. Work requires the ability to grasp, pull, push, and reach. Work requires the ability to talk, hear, listen, and comprehend. Work requires the ability to drive and/or operate mechanical equipment. Work requires visual acuity of 20 feet or more, visual acuity of 20 inches or less, three dimensional vision, precise hand/eye coordination, the ability to identify and distinguish colors Must be able to lift more than 60 pounds. Work requires the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.

Education HS_GED Experience No previous relevant work experience is required. Certifications Licensing Driver's License and Notary Public
