9666798-70001 Job Description An exciting opportunity awaits for experienced professionals dedicated to supporting students with visual impairments! A contract role is available for an attentive educator with specialized skills in teaching the visually impaired (TVI) and braille, or for a qualified braillist, to provide essential services to a 10th-grade student in the New Orleans area now through May 21, 2027. This position offers a unique chance to make a difference on an individualized caseload, delivering 1 hour per week of VI instruction and 3 hours per week of braille instruction. Flexibility is offeredeither a teacher certified in both areas or two separate candidates (TVI and braillist) will be considered, making it accessible to a range of professionals.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), Braillist, or relevant experience in providing instruction to visually impaired students Proficiency with braille instruction and materials Experience developing and adapting curriculum and resources for visually impaired students is a plus Strong communication and collaboration skills for working closely with students, families, and school staff Patience, adaptability, and a passion for inclusive education

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver direct instruction as per service requirements (1 hour/week VI, 3 hours/week braille) Prepare and adapt instructional materials using braille and other accessible formats Track student progress and communicate updates as needed Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support the students success Maintain documentation in alignment with school and regulatory guidelines This contract role is W2 hourly, offering a pay range of $41-46 per hour.
