Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, is responsible for providing clerical and general office support to the department. Reports to the Director of Voter Registration & Elections.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists with registration of County voters. Reads precinct boundary maps in order to properly place voters. Prepares voter and precinct lists. Assists with the establishment of new precincts. Maintains general and specific files and processes all changes to registration information. Sets up voting machines and equipment used during each election. Works with temporary employees and volunteers during elections issuing machines and voting materials to Precinct Clerks, arranging for storage upon completion of the election, etc. May assist in the training of the temporary Poll Workers. Attends necessary classes to become a certified Election Official, and must maintain this certificate during their employment. Interacts with various groups and individuals including the public, co-workers, vendors and Board members. Assists with implementing absentee voting procedures and maintaining the security of absentee ballots. Operates various office equipment including computer, typewriter, calculator, telephone, copy machine, printer, tape recorder, etc. Assists the Director in any project that may arise during their employment. Acts as the "Deputy Director" when necessary. During an election, works any and all necessary overtime. Attends Annual training conference. Attends monthly Board meetings.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
High School graduate with vocational / technical training in general office skills with 1 - 2 years experience in customer service, or any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must complete the State Election Commission certification program within 18 months of hire date. Valid SC Drivers License required. Must be a registered voter. Pay:
$15.00 - $16.50 per hour
