Superior Shooters Supply

Assistant Manager / Firearms Sales Specialist

Job Description

Superior Shooters Supply is looking for a full-time Assistant Manager to join our team in Superior, Wisconsin. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable about firearms and shooting, excels at customer service, and does not need someone constantly looking over their shoulder telling them what to do next. The right person will be self-motivated, self-reliant, dependable, and comfortable taking initiative. You should be able to recognize what needs attention, solve problems, make sound decisions within your authority, and follow through. This position combines retail sales with management responsibilities. You will spend a significant amount of time working directly with customers on the sales floor while also assisting management with the day-to-day operation of the store. Firearms knowledge is important. We are looking for someone with broad experience or strong working knowledge in several of the following areas:
  • Firearms
  • Ammunition and ballistics
  • Hunting
  • Handguns, rifles, and shotguns
  • Personal and home defense
  • Reloading
  • Trap and sporting clays
  • Recreational shooting
  • Competitive shooting
  • Optics, accessories, and related shooting equipment You do not need to know everything, but you should have enough experience to confidently help customers and enough curiosity to continue learning.
Customer service is equally important. We want someone who enjoys working with people, listens to what the customer actually needs, and can explain products without talking down to someone who may be new to firearms. Creative problem-solving is a big part of the job. Customers do not always walk through the door with a simple question and an obvious answer. We need someone who can think, research, find solutions, and know when to involve another member of the team. Professionalism is mandatory. Our customers and employees come from many different backgrounds and hold many different views. Personal political and religious opinions need to stay outside the workplace. The job is to provide knowledgeable, respectful service to every customer and maintain a professional environment for coworkers.
Responsibilities include:
  • Firearms, ammunition, optics, reloading, and accessory sales
  • Providing knowledgeable customer service
  • Helping customers select products appropriate for their needs
  • Assisting with firearm sales and required documentation
  • Following all applicable FFL, ATF, and store procedures
  • Assisting with trades and customer firearm purchases
  • Opening and closing responsibilities
  • Supporting and directing sales-floor employees
  • Handling customer concerns and unusual situations
  • Assisting with inventory, receiving, merchandising, and store organization
  • Helping management identify and solve operational problems
  • Taking ownership of tasks and following them through to completion We are looking for someone who:
  • Is genuinely self-motivated
  • Can work independently without constant direction
  • Has strong firearms and shooting-sports knowledge
  • Provides exceptional customer service
  • Has good judgment and common sense
  • Is comfortable solving unfamiliar problems
  • Communicates well with customers and coworkers
  • Pays attention to details
  • Is dependable and punctual
  • Can lead by example
  • Wants to learn and take on additional responsibility
  • Can leave personal politics, religion, and other divisive topics at the door Previous retail, firearms-industry, management, or supervisory experience is preferred, but we are more interested in finding the right person than checking every box on a résumé.
Compensation:
Approximately $45,000 per year ($22/hour), full-time. Superior Shooters Supply also offers an excellent employee purchasing program and access to numerous benefits and opportunities that come with working in the firearms and shooting-sports industry. There is room for advancement for someone who proves dependable, demonstrates leadership, takes initiative, and becomes an important part of the operation. Superior Shooters Supply has served shooters, hunters, competitors, and outdoor enthusiasts in the Twin Ports and surrounding areas since 1978. We are an independent, locally owned firearms retailer, and we are looking for someone who wants to become part of the business rather than simply punch a clock.

Benefits:
