ABOUT THE JOB

: Persons in these positions work a set schedule depending on the needs of the school. For example, some positions are assigned only 30 minutes a day while others could be one and a half (1.5) hours a day. Under direct supervision, assists school staff in maintaining the safety and well-being of students during eating and playground activity by monitoring designated areas as assigned; and performs related duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES

: Supervises students in the playground and eating areas; patrols student restrooms to control over-crowding; helps guide students in developing good habits of sportsmanship and citizenship; encourages and promotes courtesy among students; ensures that safety rules are obeyed and applies school site student conduct code; assists students in resolving minor conflicts on the playground; follows school protocols for student discipline and office referrals; assists with the preparation and signing of accident reports if students are injured; directs students to health office as applicable; assists and directs school visitors to the office; assists and supervises students as they leave or enter the school grounds; and reports unauthorized activities and unauthorized persons on school grounds to appropriate authority. Safety rules and habits; student health regulations and safety protocols; district policies, rules, and regulations; district protocols for student discipline and office referrals; conflict resolution strategies and techniques; and typical playground games. Ability to : Work well with children; understand, implement, and give oral and written direction in English; communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities; observe and enforce health and safety regulations; work cooperatively with others; perform duties with patience, tact, and good judgment and within established guidelines; maintain confidential student and family information; and monitor students and respond to situations in a quick and timely manner.
