THE JOB:
The primary function of a School Crossing Guard is to assist schoolchildren safely across designated street and railroad locations before and after school, during the regular school year months.
JOB DUTIES
Provides exceptional customer service to children and adults on their way to and from school. Directs or escorts pedestrians across streets, stopping traffic as necessary. Communicates traffic, crossing rules and other information to students and adults according to Crossing Guard Training and Procedures. When necessary, reports unsafe behavior of schoolchildren to the Executive Secretary Lansing Police Department.
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
Minimum High School Diploma or GED. Excellent customer service skills. Good verbal communication skills as appropriate to speak with children. Crossing Guard Training will be provided by the Village.
ADA REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand and walk. Must be able to grasp with both hands and lift a Crossing Guard Stop Sign. Must be able to see, hear and speak.
