Job Description

Job Summary Join our team as a Crossing Guard and play a vital role in ensuring the safety of children, pedestrians, and motorists around school zones and community crossings. This energetic position involves actively managing traffic flow, assisting students and pedestrians in crossing streets safely, and maintaining a secure environment for all. As a Crossing Guard, you will be the friendly face that promotes safety awareness and compliance with traffic laws while fostering positive community interactions. This paid position offers an opportunity to contribute to public safety while developing valuable communication and safety skills. Duties Safely direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic at designated crossing points, especially during school hours or peak activity times Assist children, students, parents, and community members in crossing streets using established safety protocols Monitor traffic conditions and communicate effectively with drivers and pedestrians to prevent accidents or unsafe behaviors Conduct routine inspections of safety equipment such as signage, barriers, and reflective gear to ensure optimal operation Report any hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents promptly to supervisors and emergency responders when necessary Educate pedestrians about safe crossing practices and traffic laws to promote ongoing community safety awareness Qualifications Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods in outdoor environments under various weather conditions Knowledge of traffic laws, pedestrian safety protocols, and traffic control safety procedures Strong communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, drivers, and colleagues Experience with outdoor work or community service roles is preferred but not required Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable; training can be provided if necessary Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards related to outdoor work environments is advantageous Ability to handle stressful situations calmly while adhering strictly to safety protocols and compliance management standards Join us in making a difference by ensuring safe crossings for our community!
Pay:
$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 per week
