PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Escort students in and around school crossing zones to ensure student safety. Assist with student management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED Valid Texas Driver's License Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal instruction and communicate effectively Knowledge of general safety procedures in walking students across a roadway Ability to work well with children Ability to manage student discipline
Experience:
Experience preferred but not required
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist students in crossing streets in a safe, orderly manner. Ensure students' safety at school loading, unloading, and/or crossing areas. Monitor the traffic flow and stop and/or direct traffic as appropriate to ensure student safety in crossing areas. Enforce student management as prescribe by the district. Able to communicate with students and parents about safety in escorting students across roadway. Regular attendance; must be willing and able to report to work at the designated work site on a regular daily basis according to established work schedule. Comply with district policies and procedures. Operate equipment according to established safety procedures. Serve as a role model for students. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands:
Concentration, verbal and written communication skills, reasoning skills, reading, instruction, emotional control in stressful situations, skill in use of safety practices as related to children and/or traffic flow
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Work inside and outside; temperature extremes and adverse weather, humidity extremes, noise, slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces, sunlight exposure, works around moving vehicles, works alone, walking and standing, escorting students, ability to direct traffic; hearing and vision acuity. Moderate lifting (over 40 lbs.), bending, stooping, climbing, and turning of the head and shoulders.
