In this role, you will have the opportunity to direct the emergency and non-emergency activities of a company and/or station for all shifts, both directly and through subordinate supervisors. You'll also command emergency response scenes and may serve in a support role in the Emergency Operations Center in addition to performing normal emergency response and fire suppression activities. You'll direct and perform specified staff assignments in the Division of Emergency Medical Services, Fire Prevention, Office of Emergency Services, or Training, or other special assignment. Other requirements include possession and maintenance of current State of California Emergency Medical Technician certification; possession of strength and stamina sufficient to lift and carry equipment and patients weighing up to 150 pounds; willingness to to work shifts as structured in the Fire Department; and the ability to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California Class C or higher driver's license and as well as a satisfactory driving record.
