Delegate and assign projects and tasks to subordinate employees. Provide recommendations regarding employment-related decisions involving hiring, promotion, and all other status changes. Communicate performance expectations and monitor and evaluate employee performance through formal and informal performance reviews according to policy. Provide on-the-job training as needed. Recommend budget estimates and control expenditures for the section. Develop goals, objectives, and action plans for the section. Research and recommend new technology, products, and procedures. Provide department training as needed. Provide a monthly report to the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the department's uses of force. Compile and report information monthly to the KBI, including criminal history information, offense reports and fingerprints, as well as assault LEO reports, zero reports, and homicide reports. Enforce city and departmental policies and procedures. Conduct quality control to ensure professional service is provided with accurate and efficient data entry and dictation, and assignment of routine and urgent requests for service. Review statistical data and reports for completeness and accuracy. Develop and maintain the employee schedule for the Police Support Section. Serve as contact point for residents claiming property. Answer requests for information received by radio, telephone, teletype, computer systems and determine appropriate sources to access and/or actions to be taken. Answer all department phone lines. Serve as the primary contact for citizens, law enforcement and courts for criminal reports, traffic accidents and other departmental documentation. Enter police reports, citations, criminal complaints, notices to appear, pawn tickets, mug photos, store reports, bicycle registrations, Field Interview cards, and other related documents into the computer. What You Will Need:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Five years of experience in processing, filing, and disseminating law enforcement criminal records, traffic accidents and other related documents. Valid Kansas driver's license and driving record must meet commercial liability insurance requirements. Must acquire National Crime Information Computer (NCIC) full access certification within 6 months of employment.
What Will Put You Ahead:
Associate degree in related field. Minimum of three years supervisory experience. Non-emergency radio communications experience. Experience training new employees. Knowledge of laws related to Freedom of Information Act, Kansas Open Records Act, and the discovery process for judicial proceedings. Skill in solving problems and making decisions independently and in a team environment. Ability to learn applicable Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations.
