Job Overview Join our dedicated law enforcement team as a Deputy Sheriff, where you will serve as a vital protector of public safety and uphold the rule of law within the community. Opportunities Patrol Division Criminal Investigations Division Narcotics Unit Unmanned Aerial Unit Special Response Team Training Division School Resource Officer Field Training Officer Courthouse Security Responsibilities Enforce criminal laws and regulations through patrols, investigations, and traffic stops to ensure community safety. Conduct thorough criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports in accordance with evidence law and criminal procedure. Respond swiftly to emergency calls, providing first aid and CPR when necessary to stabilize individuals until medical professionals arrive. Maintain surveillance using various techniques to monitor suspicious activities or persons of interest while adhering to search and seizure laws. Manage conflict situations with professionalism, applying conflict management skills to de-escalate tensions effectively. Execute search warrants and seizures following procedural law guidelines to secure evidence legally and ethically. Write clear, comprehensive reports documenting incidents, investigations, arrests, and other law enforcement activities. Assist in traffic law enforcement by directing traffic, issuing citations, and managing accident scenes to ensure road safety. Handle animal-related incidents responsibly, including animal care and handling when necessary during patrols or investigations. Support community outreach efforts by engaging with residents and promoting crime prevention initiatives. Qualifications Currently hold a Texas Peace Officer License. Proven experience or training in law enforcement procedures, criminal law, or related fields; prior military service is advantageous. Knowledge of traffic laws, procedural law, evidence law, search and seizure law, and criminal procedure is essential. Certifications in first aid, CPR, and first aid protocols are required; additional certifications such as surveillance or animal handling are a plus. Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage stressful situations calmly and decisively. Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation of incidents. Ability to operate law enforcement equipment including patrol vehicles safely through driving skills. Familiarity with immigration law or loss prevention strategies can be beneficial for specific assignments. Physical fitness to perform patrol duties that may involve long periods of standing or walking; ability to respond quickly in emergencies is critical.
