•G Job Duties VMI is accepting applications for a part-time Police Sergeant. Provides general supervision, technical assistance, and administrative control over a group of patrol officers assigned to specific law enforcement tasks; schedules, deploys, and assigns personnel in accordance with department policies and applicable service requirements; conducts roll calls or briefings; observes, evaluates, develops, advises, and counsels personnel reference job performance; performs law enforcement duties as required. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will have previously demonstrated or possess the ability to: Train, lead and evaluate the performance of police officers Review and investigate crimes and/or complaints Review and approve records and reports Effectively develop incident action plans Exercise good judgment in emergency situations Effectively coordinate and develop events, shift assignments, and personnel coverage Apply community policing principles and practices to resolve issues Monitor employees during probationary/evaluation periods to measure adherence to policy, procedures and protocol Extensive experience as a Law Enforcement Officer is required. Applicant must be a certified law enforcement officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia Possess a valid Virginia Driver's License High School Graduate or equivalent is required. Additional Considerations This is an in-person job. Work hours vary based on the needs of the Police Department.
