Annual Salary Range:

Mid $50K - mid $70K (based on experience and qualifications) Job Summary The Police Detective position is a sworn law enforcement position responsible for conducting criminal investigations on behalf of the department, applying investigative techniques and sound judgment to bring cases to a lawful and thorough resolution. Scope of responsibility spans the full range of criminal matters referred for investigation, including but not limited to crimes involving financial fraud, sexual assault, homicide, abduction, missing persons, juveniles, child abuse or neglect, abuse of the elderly, narcotics, auto theft, property crimes, robbery, assault and battery, gang-related activity, and other offenses as assigned. Detectives may also be assigned to specialized investigative duties, including surveillance and undercover operations, and are expected to coordinate case-related activities with other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as needed. The Police Detective manages an assigned caseload of investigations from initial assignment through case closure or referral for prosecution, and performs other related duties as required. Essential Qualifications Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required. Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer with a full-service law enforcement agency, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess Georgia Peace Officer Standards Council (GA POST) Basic Law Enforcement certification. Must be a United States citizen, at least 21 years of age, and possess a valid Georgia driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain any certifications or permits required to carry a firearm and perform sworn law enforcement duties based on area of assignment.
