DEPARTMENT REPORTS TO

POLICE CHIEF The City of Whitesburg Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. Applicants must be certified through P.O.S.T and be in good standing. The following duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Applicants must pass a background investigation, VSA exam, drug screen and an oral interview board. Must have excellent communication skills; be able to handle high stress, difficult situations and people; work independently and as a team player. Must be able to see, hear and orally communicate in person, in writing and by phone. Must have manual dexterity and be able to move about freely. This position is designated as an emergency position that requires attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, civil disturbance, major crime scenes, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or other incidents as determined by the Chief of Police or City Council.
