Full-time Salary 1 year of experience: $87,863 2 years of experience: $92,240 3 years of experience: $96,865 4 years of experience: $101,714 5+ years of experience: $106,764 Academy The Arlington Police Department now offers a Lateral Transfer Academy to experienced officers across the United States. This program will consist of 10 weeks for in-state laterals and 14 weeks for out-of-state laterals at our training center followed by 7 weeks of field training. The training schedule for the academy will be four 10-hour shifts. Eligibility Requirements Be eligible for certification from TCOLE and Actively employed as a licensed peace officer for a municipal, county, school/university, and/or state law enforcement agency with no service year requirement and have a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of post-secondary education, or Actively employed with 3 years continuous service as a licensed peace officer for a municipal, county, school/university, and/or state law enforcement agency if the applicant does not have a bachelor's degree Continuous service may include multiple agencies so long as any breaks in service were less than 90 days. Education Requirement Exemption Lateral Officers meeting the eligibility requirements are exempt from meeting the education requirement for basic entry. An Associate's Degree is required for selection to Corporal and a Bachelor's Degree is required to promote to Sergeant. Out-of-State Applicants All out of state applicants being considered for the Lateral Transfer Academy must complete the TCOLE Out of State Application process in conjunction with our own hiring process. After an initial time on patrol, officers have the option of moving into specialized units, such as criminal investigations, traffic unit, swat, community support, technical services.
