Job Description

The City of Garrett Police Department is currently accepting applications for non-paid Reserve Police Officer positions. We are seeking experienced, professional, and motivated Texas Peace Officers who are interested in serving the City of Garrett and becoming part of our department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must: Hold a current and valid Texas Peace Officer License through TCOLE. Have a minimum of three (3) years of full-time law enforcement experience. Be in good standing and able to successfully complete the Garrett Police Department's background and hiring process. Possess a valid Texas driver's license. Meet all applicable TCOLE and departmental requirements. This position is intended for experienced peace officers and is not an entry-level position for recent academy graduates.
RESERVE SERVICE REQUIREMENTS
Garrett Police Department Reserve Officers are required to work a minimum of 24 hours per month, which may be completed by working: Two (2) 12-hour shifts, or Three (3) 8-hour shifts. Reserve Officers are also expected to assist with covering full-time officers' days off or other staffing needs when requested. These assignments will generally consist of 12-hour patrol shifts and may be used toward the officer's required monthly hours. DUTIES Reserve Officers perform law enforcement duties similar to those of full-time Garrett Police Officers, including: Uniformed patrol Traffic enforcement Responding to calls for service Criminal investigations Making arrests Preparing reports Assisting other law enforcement agencies Community events and special assignments Reserve Officers may also have opportunities to work approved traffic-control and other off-duty law enforcement assignments as they become available.
