Chief of Police

JOB SUMMARY

Perform law enforcement work in order to preserve public peace and protect lives, property and rights of the public and to enforce statutory law and municipal ordinances under the Chief of Police.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Enforces traffic and parking laws and ordinances by issuing citations to violators Responding to calls for service within the city limits Investigate traffic accidents Protects citizens by patrolling businesses and residential areas and looking for suspicious persons or events May perform other duties by serving warrants, transporting prisoners, testifying in court, completing computer work, investigating crime scenes, collecting evidence Searching, pursuing, and detaining suspects Participate in mandatory and elective training Keeping proficient with firearms and self-defense Being familiar with the Glen Rose Police Department Policies and Standard Operating Procedures as well as the City of Glen Rose Ordinances Being familiar with Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedures, Texas Transportation Code, Texas Family Code and Texas Health and Safety Code Cooperate and work with local, state and federal entities

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or equivalent

Must hold a valid Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Peace Officer License-- Prior law enforcement experience preferred, but not required Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills

Must be able to perform all physical duties and operate law enforcement equipment Must pass background investigation, physical, psychological exam, and drug screening
