Milford Police Department — Police Officer 972-493-4193
Position:
Police Officer Employment:
Full-time, night shift, in person Current posted salary: $60,000/year Position summary Under general supervision, the officer protects life and property through crime prevention and enforcement of City, State and Federal laws and ordinances. The position also conducts criminal investigations and performs specialized duties as assigned. Essential job functions Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and enforce applicable laws and City ordinances. Respond to calls for service involving crimes and citizen concerns. Safely operate a police emergency-response vehicle during routine and emergency situations. Respond to traffic accidents and control traffic at accident scenes. Monitor traffic and issue citations and warnings. Arrest suspects in accordance with law and department policy. Prepare accurate and thorough criminal, traffic-accident and incident reports. Interview victims, witnesses and suspects. Investigate crimes against persons and property. Gather evidence and preserve crime scenes. Prepare cases for prosecution. Process prisoners and secure prisoner property. Interact courteously with citizens and business owners. Participate in community-oriented policing. Testify in criminal and civil court. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required skills Safe use of firearms. Safe operation of police motor vehicles. Decision-making during emergencies. Use of crime-scene evidence-collection equipment. Retaining details of incidents and preparing accurate reports. Effective oral and written communication. Minimum qualifications High-school diploma or equivalent. Texas driver's license. Basic Texas Peace Officer License through TCOLE. Ability to successfully complete the City's pre-employment screening, including: Criminal background investigation Drug screening Physical examination Additional certification may be required.
