Pre-Certified Vermont Police Officers preferred.• Under supervision, the District Liaison Officer (DLO) performs a variety of public safety and community caretaking duties, with a primary focus on school safety.

Key responsibilities include:

Preserving peace, protecting life and property, supporting all students and staff of the Winooski School District in a safe and healthy environment. Managing CHINS (Children in Need of Care of Supervision) and truancy cases, as well as assisting with DCF (Department for Children and Families) investigations. Identifying safety concerns, supporting emergency drills, and being an integral part of the emergency response plan and safety team at the Winooski School District. During the school year, the DLO will fulfill these duties within the school setting as related to the Memorandum of Understanding between the City if Winooski and the Winooski Incorporated School District. During school breaks, the DLO will support the Winooski Police Department by performing regular shift work, community policing, and outreach tasks as assigned by the Chief. The DLO collaborates with school administration, restorative justice entities, the Chittenden County State's Attorney's Office, and the Vermont Department of Children and Families to address statutory violations and CHINS investigations. The role emphasizes fostering positive interactions between youth and law enforcement, serving as a liaison with schools, and promoting healthy activities for Winooski youth. The DLO will engage with the public, community organizations, and other agencies to address crime and community needs, enhance quality of life, and build relationships through community policing. Officers assigned to this role must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the Police Officer job description. Those who have a current Vermont Police Certification (Level II or III) preferred. We are willing to send the right candidate to the Police Academy to obtain these certifications. Responsibilities Provide effective management and supervision of district teams, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency, sales performance, and business growth within the district Lead business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, building relationships, and expanding market presence Oversee profit and loss responsibilities, ensuring financial targets are met through careful budget management and cost control Supervise project management activities to ensure timely delivery of initiatives that support district expansion and improvement efforts Drive process improvements by analyzing current workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing best practices Foster a positive leadership environment by mentoring managers, promoting teamwork, and encouraging professional development Qualifications The District Liaison Officer actively participates in school and community activities, attending meetings such as faculty and parent sessions, giving crime prevention presentations, and coordinating youth programs with local businesses, civic groups, and recreation departments. The DLO organizes events, such as sporting activities, and collaborates with other city agencies to support police prevention initiatives. Responsibilities include classroom visits for grades K-12, mentoring children in sports, assisting with after-school activities, supporting the driver education program with traffic law education, and aiding other officers in juvenile investigations and follow-ups. Level II Vermont Police Officer Certification (Preferred) Level II Vermont Police Offer Certification (Preferred) High School diploma or GED, must be 18 years of age Experience with office equipment, computers and communications systems is highly desirable Ability to master a working knowledge of the principals involved in the operation of radio, telephone and related communications equipment Ability to speak clearly and concisely Ability to think and act quickly, calmly, and accurately in an emergency situation

Pay:

$33.47 - $54.82 per hour
