Job Description

Position Summary The Clinton County State's Attorney's Office is seeking an attorney to serve as an Assistant State's Attorney . The position involves prosecuting a variety of criminal matters, substantial courtroom experience, and independently managing an assigned caseload with limited supervision. The Office values professionalism, teamwork, sound judgment, and service to the community.
Responsibilities include:
Review, evaluate, and prosecute a variety of criminal cases with a focus on juvenile (JA and JD) cases. Prepare for and conduct hearings and trials Prepare charging documents, motions, and other legal documents. Conduct legal research and apply Illinois law. Communicate professionally and effectively with law enforcement, victims, witnesses, defense counsel, the judiciary, and the public. Manage an assigned caseload and exercise sound professional judgment. Perform other duties as assigned by the State's Attorney.
Qualifications Required:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of Illinois. Strong written and oral communication, courtroom advocacy, organizational, and technology skills. Ability to work independently and effectively in a collaborative environment.
Preferred:
Three or more years of legal experience, preferably in criminal law, a State's Attorney's Office, or Public Defender's Office. Experience handling juvenile (JA and JD) cases. Trial or significant courtroom experience Experience handling a high-volume caseload Compensation and Benefits Starting salary between $80,000 - $96,000 per year , commensurate with qualifications and experience.
