full-time This is a senior, client-facing planning leadership role for a firm serving families with wealth spanning multiple entities, generations, and states. The Director owns the strategy and execution of the firm's family office planning deliverables
- defining what the team produces, how it's produced, and how it improves over time
- while managing a team and setting the standard for planning quality across the practice. Key Responsibilities Client Estate & Tax Planning
- Lead plan design and implementation for UHNW clients across trusts, family entities, charitable structures, and wealth transfer strategies. Serve as primary planning contact for a defined client book; coordinate with outside estate counsel, CPAs, and institutional trustees. Integrated Tax Strategy
- Combine income and estate tax planning in one coordinated approach; advise on entity structures, business succession, liquidity events, and gifting programs; align tax strategy with the investment team's portfolio decisions. Family Office Deliverables
- Own strategy and continuous improvement of the firm's family office offering; build frameworks/templates for consistent execution; identify capability gaps and help expand the offering as the client base grows. Team Leadership
- Manage and develop junior planning staff; set standards for how deliverables are prepared, reviewed, and communicated; contribute to methodology, process, and technology; participate in business development and onboarding. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Partner with advisors, compliance, and operations for a connected client experience; contribute to annual reviews, family meetings, and generational transition work.
Qualifications JD required; CPA preferred; LLM in Taxation preferred; active bar membership in good standing 10+ years of estate planning and tax experience serving UHNW clients Background in a family office, multi-family office, private client law firm, or Big Four wealth practice Prior team management/mentoring experience; able to raise the bar without micromanaging Strong written and verbal communication; able to translate complex planning concepts for multi-generational family audiences
