Job Description
The University of Alabama School of Law seeks qualifiedapplicants for the position of Professor of Legal Writing at the rank ofAssistant, Associate, or Full Professor, depending on qualifications. This is a 9-month position and does not include thepossibility of tenure. The position will be on a contract basis with an initialthree-year term. After initial renewal, subsequentthree-year terms will bepresumptively renewable. The Legal Writing professor will teach two sections in thefirst-year program andwill also develop an upper-level writing or draftingcourse and teach that course twice during the three-year contract. If acandidate is appointed to serve as Director of AlabamaLaw's Legal Writing Program and/or Director of the Moot Court Program, they mayhavea reduced teaching load and additional responsibilities as assigned. The Director of Legal Writing will guide the development andimprovement of the legal writing program and support the legal writing faculty.
The Director of the Moot Court Program will oversee thecoordination andexecution of the Alabama Law 2L Moot Court Competition and serve as the primaryadvisor to the Moot Court Board. Applicants must have a law degree from an ABA-accredited lawschool and a strong academic record. Applicants must demonstrate effectivelegal writing skills and should be admitted to and in good standing with astate bar. Preference may be given to applicants with significantteaching orpractice experience. Salary and benefits will be nationally competitive.
