Full-time Position Overview Fremont University is seeking a dedicated and visionary leader to serve as the Director of the Department of Law and Public Policy, overseeing the ABA-Approved Paralegal Program. This position requires strong leadership, academic administration expertise, and a passion for mentoring students and faculty with a hybrid work schedule. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead and support a team of paralegals, attorneys, and law enforcement professionals in teaching and guiding students. The Director will play a critical role in shaping student success, ensuring high learning outcomes, fostering faculty development, and expanding program opportunities. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Faculty Oversight Provide leadership for the Law and Public Policy Department, including the ABA-Approved Paralegal Program. Lead, manage, and mentor a team of paralegals, attorneys, and others who serve as faculty. Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate faculty to maintain high-quality instruction. Foster a supportive and collaborative academic environment that enhances faculty engagement and student learning. Student Mentorship & Academic Support Work with colleagues to improve retention rates and student success. Oversee student attendance and academic progress. Conduct timely intervention for at-risk students by proactively contacting struggling students and offering academic support, and one-on-one mentorship and coaching. Academic & Accreditation Compliance Maintain compliance with ABA requirements for the Paralegal Program. Maintain compliance with ACCSC requirements for the Paralegal Program. Maintain accreditation standards, including record-keeping and reporting for the ABA, institutional accrediting bodies, and other relevant agencies. Oversee curriculum development and assessment to improve student outcomes and program effectiveness. Stay updated on legal education trends and integrate best practices into course offerings. Program Growth & Community Engagement Develop and implement strategies to enhance program visibility, enrollment, and student engagement. Work closely with the Career Development Office to establish partnerships with law firms, government agencies, and legal professionals to create internship and employment opportunities. Promote community outreach initiatives, including legal education workshops and networking events. Organize faculty training, student competitions, and leadership development programs to strengthen student and faculty success. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) required. Preferred but not required understanding of ABA accreditation standards and legal education requirements. Experience leading paralegal, criminal justice, or legal studies programs in an academic setting preferred. Experience working with paralegals, attorneys, and law enforcement professionals in an educational or training capacity. Ability to mentor students, lead teams, and develop academic programs. Demonstrate commitment to student engagement, academic support, and career development. Administrative and organizational skills, including experience with record-keeping, reporting, and compliance.
