(QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority owned law firm in the United States, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join our Lexington, Kentucky office. This position will support attorneys handling civil defense litigation matters. This is a full-time, in-office position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. About the Role The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling a busy civil defense caseload. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and experienced in supporting litigation attorneys throughout the various stages of a case. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling civil defense matters Draft, edit, format, and proofread correspondence, pleadings, discovery documents, motions, subpoenas, notices, and other legal documents under attorney direction Prepare and process state and federal court filings, including electronic filings Prepare, issue, and track subpoenas and other requests for records or information Maintain organized and accurate electronic and physical case files Manage attorney calendars and monitor important deadlines, including hearings, depositions, discovery deadlines, mediations, and trial dates Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, meetings, conferences, and other case-related matters Assist with discovery by organizing documents, records, correspondence, and other case materials Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing binders, and coordinating case materials Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, experts, court personnel, vendors, and other parties Assist with bankruptcy-related filings and federal court removals as applicable Monitor case-related tasks and follow up on outstanding documents, records, filings, and deadlines Assist attorneys with time entry, billing, and other administrative responsibilities as needed Perform additional administrative and legal support duties as assigned Qualifications 3+ years of Legal Assistant experience supporting attorneys in civil litigation preferred Prior experience in a high-volume law firm or litigation environment preferred Experience with state and federal court filing procedures and electronic filing systems Familiarity with bankruptcy matters and federal court removals is a plus Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint Strong organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision Professional demeanor and ability to handle confidential information appropriately High School Diploma or equivalent required Physical Demands This position is primarily sedentary and requires extended periods of sitting and use of standard office equipment. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required.
