About us Lockaby PLLC represents startups, small- and mid-sized businesses, and their owners, founders, and investors in connection with general corporate, M&A, labor-and-employment, and litigation matters. We are seeking a legal administrative assistant to join our team.

Job Title:

Job Summary:

The Legal Assistant facilitates the efficient operation of the firm by performing a variety of paralegal, clerical, and administrative tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
    None Duties/Responsibilities:
    • Answers and transfers phone calls, screening when necessary.
    • Welcomes and directs visitors and clients.
    • Retrieves information as requested from records, email, minutes, and other related documents; prepares written summaries of data when needed.
    • Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and questions.
    • Creates and maintains all case files and other administrative files.
    • Prepares routine correspondence and pleadings.
    • Requests medical records when required.
    • Files documents with state and federal courts using e-filing systems.
    • Assists attorneys with scheduling/calendar management.
    • Assists with discovery, including document productions, Bates labeling, and related tasks.
    • Prepares agendas and schedules for meetings.
    • Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
    • Ability to work independently.
    Minimum Education and Experience:
    • High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required.
    • Minimum of 2 years of Legal Assistant experience.
    Preferred Education and Experience:

    Associate's Degree or a Bachelor's Degree preferred. Licensed Kentucky Notary.

    • 3+ Years of Legal Assistant experience at a law firm.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Occasionally required to exert a force of up to 20 lbs.
    Work Environment:
    • Normal office environment including sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, or lifting.
