  • 65,000 per year, depending on experience Bieber Law Group, PLLC is a well-established Metro Detroit law firm seeking an experienced Probate Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our office in Center Line, Michigan.

The primary focus of this position is Michigan probate and estate administration. We are looking for someone who understands how a probate file progresses from opening through closing and who can independently keep matters moving, track deadlines, prepare documents, communicate with clients, and work closely with the attorney responsible for the file. This is a full-time, in-office position. It is not a remote or hybrid position. Primary Responsibilities The successful candidate will assist with a substantial probate and estate administration caseload, including: Preparing petitions, applications, notices, inventories, accountings, proofs of service, and other Michigan probate documents Opening, administering, and closing decedent estates Assisting with guardianship and conservatorship matters Preparing and filing documents with Michigan probate courts Tracking statutory deadlines, hearings, filings, and other case requirements Communicating with personal representatives, heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, courts, financial institutions, and other interested parties Obtaining asset information and assisting with the collection and transfer of estate assets Maintaining organized electronic and physical case files Preparing correspondence and routine client communications Scheduling hearings, appointments, and case-related deadlines Working directly with the supervising attorney to identify what needs to be completed next on each file Assisting with other law-office matters as needed, including estate planning, landlord-tenant matters, collections, and general civil work

Qualifications Required:

At least 2 years of experience working with Michigan probate or estate administration matters Familiarity with Michigan probate court procedures and common probate filings Strong organizational and deadline-management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple active files simultaneously Ability to work independently while recognizing when attorney involvement is required Strong attention to detail Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and general computer applications Professional and courteous communication with clients, courts, attorneys, and staff

Preferred:

Experience administering Michigan decedent estates from opening through closing Experience with guardianship and conservatorship proceedings Experience with probate accounting and asset reconciliation Familiarity with MyCase or similar law-practice management software Prior experience in a small or mid-sized law firm We will consider both experienced paralegals and experienced legal assistants whose work history demonstrates substantial hands-on probate experience. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, comfortable dealing directly with clients, and capable of identifying what needs to happen next in a probate matter. Probate experience is important.
