Job Description

Faculty Position TITLE:
Assistant Professor - Legal Studies
DEPARTMENT
Humanities
SALARY RANGE
$65,000 - $70,000 Description of Duties The State University of New York (SUNY) College at Canton invites qualified applicants for a full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Legal Studies faculty position in the Humanities Department beginning September 1, 2027. Responsibilities -
Qualifications Required:
A Juris Doctor Degree. Ability to develop and deliver law courses across online, face-to-face, and flex (hybrid) modalities. Ability to teach undergraduate-level courses, focused on tax law, income tax, and individual taxation. Ability to teach a wide-range of undergraduate-level law courses, including business law, environmental law, immigration law, criminal practice, civil litigation, legal research, and legal writing. Strong commitment to academic mentoring and student development.
Preferred:
Admission to state bar. At least 5 years of experience practicing law. Prior teaching experience in college-level courses. D. Degree. Experience integrating applied learning into curriculum design and instruction. Demonstrated excellence in teaching, with a proven ability to engage and inspire students in both traditional and online settings. Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, including non-traditional and first-generation college students.
