Job Description

Job Title:
Legal/Paralegal with Accounting & Office-Management Support (Part‑Time) Position is ideal for a parent that requires flexible hours to allow time for parenting
Location:
Islip, New York (hybrid — on‑site required; occasional remote as needed)
Hours:
25 hours/week, spread across 5 days (flexible schedule)
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience About the Business Small diversified owner-operated businesses with activities in property management, wholesale distribution of clothing & accessories, and logistics consulting. Seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented professional to support legal, accounting and administrative needs. Primary Responsibilities
  • Draft, review and prepare basic business agreements, contracts, leases, vendor/customer agreements, NDAs and routine corporate documents.
  • Provide paralegal support for owner: organize cloud based files, prepare correspondence, maintain contract calendar, and assist with customer filings as required.
  • Maintain bookkeeping: record transactions, reconcile accounts, manage accounts payable/receivable, prepare month‑end summaries.
  • Use QuickBooks for day‑to‑day accounting operations and reporting.
  • Produce and maintain organized physical and electronic files for legal, financial and operational records.
  • Assist owner with scheduling, planning, meeting follow‑up, and project tracking.
  • Support business management tasks across property management, wholesale and logistics projects as needed.
  • Generate basic financial and operational reports (cash flow, aging, simple P&L snapshots) and provide ad hoc data in Excel.
  • Coordinate with external advisors (CPA, attorneys, vendors) and prepare materials for meetings. Required Qualifications
  • Law degree (JD) or Paralegal certification OR equivalent legal experience.
  • Demonstrable accounting/bookkeeping experience (formal accounting training or hands‑on bookkeeping experience).
  • Proficient in QuickBooks (Online or Desktop) and advanced working knowledge of Excel (formulas, pivot tables, basic macros).
  • Experience drafting/reviewing standard business contracts and corporate documents.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage confidential materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; professional demeanor when interacting with clients/vendors.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.; able to commute to Islip for on‑site work. Preferred
  • Previous general business, accounting and legal experience re
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams/Outlook, and basic document management systems. Work Arrangement & Expectations
  • 25 hours/week total, scheduled across 5 weekdays (exact daily hours to be agreed).
  • On‑site presence in Islip is expected as primary mode; occasional remote work permitted on an as‑needed basis (not regular remote).
  • Reliable internet and a quiet workspace for potential remote days.
