Job Description
Do you have a passion for helping victims of domestic violence work with law enforcement? If so, this is the position for you! Unity House is seeking a High-Risk Advocate to provide advocacy, specifically between law enforcement and victims, and provide support through the criminal justice process for those who are at the highest risk of lethality due to domestic violence. This is a full-time position that includes weekend, evening, and overnight hours with a flexible schedule.
Position may be eligible for a sign on bonus for those who qualify ResponsibilitiesProvide emergency assistance for victims and survivors of domestic violence seeking assistanceProvide emotional support, crisis intervention and safety planningProvide information, referrals and linkages to supportive servicesProvide on site support to law enforcement and victims for Domestic IncidentsAssist in communication and follow up with law enforcement and victimsParticipate in collaboration efforts including attendance at Coordinated Community Response MeetingsComplete contract and/or regulatory compliance activitiesPromote a work culture of inclusion and belongingsRequirementsBachelors Degree preferred2 or more years of related experiencea valid NYS drivers license and acceptable driving record; and reliable transportationUnity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. We work to achieve social justice in our community and to create a better understanding of those we serve.
