- 9am•5pm• (Monday•Fridays) Education•Degree Preferred Experience•3 Year Pay•$90,000•$100,000 P/Y Job Overview We are on the lookout for a proactive and detail-oriented Fleet & Safety Manager to join our dynamic team here at City Line Foods in West Haven, CT.
In this role, you will be the driving force behind ensuring our transportation operations are safe, compliant, and efficient. You'll oversee fleet management, enforce safety protocols, and coordinate logistics to keep everything running smoothly. The ideal candidate is passionate about safety, experienced in logistics and supply chain management, and eager to make a positive impact on operational excellence. Applicants must have experience & knowledge in the following areas listed below:
- Knowledge and understanding of DOT guidelines and regulations in regards to CDL operations Hours of Service Pre-trip inspections Post-trip inspections CDL Drug testing and random testing Knowledge of FMCSA including BASIC Knowledge of OSHA regulations including posting and submitting recordable events Employee Safety Training and re-certifications Claims reporting, handling and managing Motor vehicle claims.
Workman's compensation claims for all employees Claims investigation for all insurance lines to find root cause and implementation of best practices to reduce or eliminate future claims Facility safety including fire protection, employee safety, equipment safety Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) training and management Rack and infrastructure inspections to identify required repairs Monitoring and ensuring proper use of safety equipment Knowledge of Samsara fleet monitoring system or similar system Identify driver safety issues and make corrective action Self-motivated individual Highly organized individual Floating schedule
- to be a presence for a three shift 24-hour operation Three early morning days to meet with drivers in the morning before they leave for their routes Two early afternoons to early evening nights to meet with night shift Emergency Planning Hazard and chemical safety Duties Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies aligned with OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards to promote a safe working environment across all fleet operations.
Manage fleet maintenance schedules, vehicle inspections, and repair records to ensure optimal performance and compliance with transportation safety regulations. Oversee logistics operations related to freight movement, import/export management, customs brokerage, and customs clearance processes in accordance with international trade regulations. Utilize global trade management software and Excel data analysis tools to track shipments, analyze performance metrics, and generate regulatory reports. Ensure adherence to FDA regulations and other relevant supply chain standards during transportation and storage of goods. Coordinate with customs authorities to facilitate smooth customs clearance procedures while maintaining compliance with trade laws such as OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) regulations. Conduct risk assessments related to transportation safety and supply chain vulnerabilities, implementing mitigation strategies as needed. Prepare detailed reports on safety incidents, compliance status, and logistical performance for senior management review. Dispatching and coaching safety issues to all drivers in morning Pre-employment safety evaluations include road test, pallet test, proper ergonomic lifting. Smith training and new driver safety orientation Customer Service and driver support while on the road Knowledge and enforcement of all OSHA regulations including log posting and submittal. Accident investigation, both auto and W/C for all company departments Drive Cam, Samsara, routing, and Telematics software knowledge Claim and personal management including Auto and W/C for all employees and dept. Implement, oversee, and enforce safety procedures on all shifts and departments. Driver DOT file management and compliance
FMCSA SMS
compliance Uniform and boot mobile management. Driver Safety meeting includes setting agenda and arranging speakers. Experience Proven experience in fleet management or transportation safety within a logistics or supply chain environment. Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, transportation safety regulations, and logistics compliance requirements. Familiarity with international trade regulations including import/export procedures, customs brokerage management, and customs regulations compliance. Technical proficiency in using global trade management software, Excel for data analysis, and other office productivity tools for report writing and documentation. Experience managing regulatory reporting obligations related to transportation safety and supply chain operations. Ability to interpret complex regulatory guidelines such as FDA regulations and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) restrictions. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail in risk management activities. Safety Measurement System (SMS) Must be computer literate including excel and word. Must have knowledge of OSHA and HACCP. Must be self-motivated without requiring direction.
