Discover us at www.gradiant.com Role Overview The Construction Safety Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and health programs on construction projects to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and client-specific requirements. The role supports project management, field supervision, subcontractors, and craft personnel by identifying hazards, conducting risk assessments, implementing corrective actions, and promoting a proactive safety culture that prevents injuries, illnesses, property damage, and environmental incidents. The Construction Safety Engineer serves as a technical resource for construction safety, regulatory compliance, incident investigations, training, and continuous improvement initiatives across all phases of construction activities. Responsibilities Implement and maintain project-specific safety and health programs. Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and company safety requirements. Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety observations. Identify workplace hazards and perform risk assessments. Develop and review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs). Recommend and verify corrective actions for identified hazards. Monitor high-risk activities including fall protection, excavation, confined space entry, electrical work, and crane operations. Lead and support incident, injury, near-miss, and property damage investigations. Perform root cause analysis and develop preventive measures. Deliver safety orientations, training sessions, and toolbox talks. Coach supervisors, employees, and subcontractors on safe work practices. Manage subcontractor safety compliance and performance. Exercise stop-work authority when imminent danger conditions exist. Develop and coordinate emergency response plans and drills. Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation. Track safety metrics, trends, and corrective action completion. Participate in pre-job planning and constructability reviews. Serve as the project's subject matter expert for construction safety. Promote a positive safety culture through field engagement and leadership.
