Job Description

Regional Safety SuperintendentPosition OverviewThe Regional Safety Superintendent leads regional health, safety and environmental (HSE) programs to protect people, assets and operations. This role develops, implements and monitors safety management systems, standards and procedures across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations and company policies. The superintendent provides strategic direction for emergency response planning, incident prevention and continuous improvement by coaching teams, managing contractors, conducting audits and reporting safety performance to senior leadership.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement and maintain regional safety management systems, policies and procedures aligned with ISO 45001 and regulatory requirements.

Lead emergency response planning and incident management, including coordination of drills, crisis communications and post-incident reviews.

Conduct and oversee incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify corrective actions and prevent recurrence.

Plan and execute safety audits, inspections and risk assessments for operations, equipment and worksites; track closure of findings.

Manage permit-to-work systems, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, fall protection and other site-specific safety programs.

Provide contractor and subcontractor safety oversight, ensuring pre-qualification, onboarding, and compliance with corporate standards.

Deliver safety training, coaching and toolbox talks; develop competency programs including HAZWOPER, NEBOSH, OSHA-30, First Aid/CPR and site-specific certifications.

Oversee hazardous materials handling, HAZWOPER compliance and environmental permitting requirements.

Coordinate workers compensation management, return-to-work programs and regulatory reporting requirements.

Monitor safety metrics and KPIs, prepare regular reports for regional leadership and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Implement and manage respiratory protection, PPE programs, crane & rigging, scaffolding and traffic control safety procedures.

Champion behavior-based safety programs and foster a positive safety culture through visible leadership and worker engagement.

Leverage safety software (iAuditor, SiteDocs) and MS Excel to track incidents, inspections, training and performance data.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.

Minimum 7+ years of progressive safety experience in construction, industrial or energy sectors, including regional or multi-site responsibility.
Certifications:
NEBOSH or equivalent, OSHA-30 Hour, HAZWOPER (24/40-hour preferred), First Aid/CPR. Additional certifications in
ISO 45001
lead auditor or safety management are a plus.

Demonstrated experience with emergency response planning, incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Proven knowledge of OSHA regulations, environmental compliance, permit-to-work systems, confined space, fall protection, LOTO and hazardous materials handling.

Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments; proficiency with safety metrics and KPI development.

Strong skills in contractor/subcontractor safety oversight and managing safety documentation and reporting systems.

Practical experience with crane & rigging safety, scaffolding, traffic control/flagging and respiratory protection programs.

Proficient with safety software such as iAuditor and SiteDocs, and advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.

Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience delivering training, toolbox talks and behavior-based safety coaching.

Ability to travel regionally to multiple sites and work flexible hours including emergency response as required.
