Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under general supervision, checks motor carrier for compliance with the California Highway Patrol administrative regulations relating to safety, maintenance and operational practices; perform in-depth vehicle inspections for annual certifications, makes recommendations regarding the granting of PUC operating authority; inspects carrier and chipper facilities for compliance with state and federal regulations pertaining to documentation of hazardous materials and wastes; prepares comprehensive written reports of inspections conducted; makes detailed investigations of vehicles involved in accidents to determine if cause was mechanical; assists in preparation of complaints, reports and exhibits; testifies as a witness in court.
