Full-TimePosition SummaryThe FSQA Coordinator supports the implementation, maintenance, verification, and continuous improvement of the facility's Food Safety and Quality Management System. This position works closely with the SQF Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure food safety, quality, regulatory, customer, and SQF requirements are consistently met.

The role performs routine inspections, sampling, environmental monitoring, product and process evaluations, internal audits, documentation reviews, and corrective action follow-up while helping promote a strong food safety and quality culture throughout the facility.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Safety & Regulatory ComplianceSupport the facility's SQF Food Safety and Quality Management Systems.

Assist with compliance with SQF, cGMPs, FDA requirements, customer standards, and applicable regulations.

Verify sanitation, employee hygiene, pest control, allergen management, foreign material prevention, and other prerequisite programs.

Maintain accurate food safety and quality records.

Support product traceability, mock recalls, and recall-readiness activities.

Quality AssurancePerform routine inspections of production, processing, packaging, equipment, and finished products.

Verify product specifications, weights, labels, packaging, coding, and quality requirements.

Identify and document non-conforming products, processes, and conditions.

Place products on hold when food safety or quality requirements are not met and assist with disposition.

Investigate product defects, quality incidents, complaints, and process deviations.

Assist with root-cause analysis and CAPA activities.

Monitor quality trends and identify opportunities for improvement.

Environmental & Product MonitoringCollect, handle, document, and submit environmental, ingredient, water, and finished-product samples.

Perform environmental monitoring and maintain accurate records.

Assist with investigations involving environmental monitoring positives and food safety concerns.

Monitor testing trends and communicate potential risks to FSQA management.

Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections and established verification activities.

Audits & VerificationConduct GMP, sanitation, food safety, and quality inspections.

Perform assigned verification activities.

Assist with internal, customer, regulatory, SQF, and third-party audits.

Document findings and communicate deficiencies.

Track corrective actions and verify timely and effective completion.

Support ongoing audit readiness.

Training & CommunicationAssist with employee training covering GMPs, food safety, sanitation, allergen control, hygiene, and quality procedures.

Coach employees on food safety and quality expectations.

Communicate concerns promptly to Production, FSQA, and management.

Promote a strong food safety and quality culture.

Support cross-functional problem-solving and continuous improvement.

QualificationsMinimum 2 years of experience in food manufacturing, quality assurance, food safety, microbiology, or a related environment preferred.

Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Working knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, Preventive Controls, allergen control, sanitation, and food safety regulations.

Experience with SQF, BRCGS, or other GFSI-recognized standards preferred.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to identify risks, investigate issues, determine root causes, and support corrective actions.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with Production, Maintenance, Sanitation, Warehouse, and other teams.

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to consistently follow safety, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.

Physical RequirementsAbility to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

Ability to work around production equipment, noise, dust, odors, and varying temperatures.

Ability to wear required PPE and follow facility safety requirements.

Ability to lift and carry samples, supplies, and materials as needed.

Flexibility to work weekends or different shifts based on production needs.
